live your full potential

Jeremy Young MA UKCP Reg.

My name is Jeremy Young and I am a UKCP registered psychosynthesis psychotherapist and counsellor, working in private practice. I offer a space for self-development and also self-exploration. I offer face-to-face psychotherapy, counselling, and support groups for men.

What does it mean to be human? This is a complex, contradictory, and mysterious question. How we experience ourselves provides the foundation for our values, our choices and our relationships. We search for purpose, for meaning, we set ourselves goals, follow paths and directions, enter into relationships …….and sometimes we get lost and lose connection.

At different stages in life you may encounter challenges which can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, and internal distress.

You may experience feelings of

anxiety

depression

stress

a sense of low self-esteem

You may feel that you have

lost direction

been struggling to find meaning or purpose

difficulty maintaining meaningful relationships

These signs and symptoms may need to be heard, understood and explored more deeply and professional support can offer benefits to allow us to find what you may need. My therapeutic approach is integrative and offers a lens that acknowledges your distress whilst offering a framework to explore and cultivate your internal and external relationships on all levels; it allows for self-discovery.

I aim to provide a tools and techniques to enable access to a truer sense of who you are; who you want to be; to discover your values and a sense of meaning and purpose.

We will work together to encourage you to develop

  • a sense of curiosity

  • to understand yourself more profoundly

  • a greater connection with your authentic self

  • more meaningful relationships with others

  • body, feelings, mind and spirit resonance

  • personal reflection

In my role as a psychosynthesis psychotherapist and counsellor, I offer a space for you to explore and understand any conflicts and challenges; review aspects of yourself that may feel out of alignment; find a deeper sense of who you truly are and find ways to fulfil your potential.

Developmental Trauma

As a result of developmental trauma, adults may struggle to emotionally self-regulate and develop and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships

There are various reasons for developmental trauma to occur. The underlying nature is when a child is exposed to overwhelming stress and their caregiver does not help reduce this stress, or is the cause of the stress, the child experiences developmental trauma.

Adverse childhood experiences include early loss, neglect, abuse and household dysfunction, e.g., children witnessing domestic abuse, alcoholism/substance use in their household.

Even though we may not have explicit memories that we can recollect does not mean that overwhelming distress during early childhood does not have an impact in our being as we grow up and into adult life. The body remembers what may be unconscious to the mind.

As a psychosynthesis psychotherapist and counsellor I work with helping to identify developmental trauma, drawing upon maps and models to help with understanding dysfunction and unhealthy and outdated modes of being.
