Men’s Process Groups
I facilitate monthly therapeutic process groups for men. The group is for up to 12 members and is a closed group.
What is a men’s process group?
Group therapy is a type of psychological therapy that takes place with a group of people, – in this case a group of men – rather than at an individual level. The term can be applied to any kind of psychotherapy that is delivered for a group, but it is most commonly associated with therapy that makes use of the group dynamics.
There are a number of advantages to receiving therapy in a group setting, including access to a support network and the chance to meet others who are dealing with similar issues and concerns, allowing for deeper self-understanding.
How may engaging in a men’s group help you?
The group therapy space offered is a confidential, intimate and nourishing space that provides an opportunity to share issues that men may find difficult to express in a mixed gender environment, for example, their relationship to anger, and expression of anger; how they might manage stress; and intimacy issues. It allows for slowing down and reflection.
It is a therapeutic space that supports:
Learning how to authentically relate to others with tolerance
Finding self-acceptance
Acceptance of other
Self-reflection through curiosity
Understanding how one’s childhood may have led to behavioural patterns and mindsets that play out in the here and now
Identification of behaviours, patterns and differences
